The following list of tools are pulled directly from the Skerry manual. Plans builders need a few extra things, but I am building from a kit.
REQUIRED TOOLS
– Tape measure
– String line or chalk line
– Spirit level, 24″ to 36″
– Carpenter’s framing square
– Small handsaw
– Block plane
– Rabbet plane
– Drill and bits
– Screwdrivers
– Pliers and wire cutters
– Flat or half-round rasp
– Sharp knife
– Small hammer
– Saw horses
– Sanding mask or respirator
– Safety glasses
– C- or Bar clamps (as many as possible, 15 to 30)
– Two large spring clamps minimum
– Saber saw, Japanese saw or bonsai saw
OPTIONAL BUT HELPFUL TOOLS
– Random orbital sander
– Chisels
– Bevel square
– Framing square
SUPPLIES
– Sandpaper (80, 150,220, and 400 grit)
– Disposable foam brushes
– Disposable bristle brushes
– Disposable foam rollers
– Epoxy metering pumps or measuring cups
– Stirring sticks
– Disposable gloves
– Plastic sheet or wax paper
– A few dozen brads or small wire nails
– Small wedges, 1/2″ x 1/2″ x 1-1/2″ long
– Masking tape, clear plastic packing tape
